We want everyone to enjoy their holiday at Stretton Lakes. We are committed to providing a fantastic experience for all guests staying with us.

Making our holidays accessible for everyone is something that we are keen to achieve and develop.

Our staff are always happy to help and improve the Park for those who have a disability or reduced mobility, a visual impairment, autism, or a disability – hidden or otherwise, and we are here to make sure you feel supported.

Accessibility Statement

Stretton Lakes caters for touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans, and log cabins holidays.  We are open all year round with booking recommended during busy periods.  The information below is intended to help you plan your visit with us, but please contact us to discuss your individual needs, provide feedback or ask any other questions.

Reception area

Reception shop is accessed from the main entry way via level paving. It is open 11-3 every day and is always staffed.

Roads and lighting on site

The roads and paths around the park at Stretton Lakes are mainly constructed from tarmac. Some paths leading to our Shower facilities are loose gravel. We take patrons’ safety seriously and have a 5 mph speed limit in operation around the park. All pitches are directly accessible from the road system. The campsite has low level lighting, is level or gently sloping.

 

Caravan and motorhome pitches

The hard standing pitches are spacious, with room for caravan, awning and vehicle. The surface is constructed from compacted hardcore. There is ample space between pitches and vehicles can be parked adjacent to each pitch. Each hard standing has its own clearly marked electric hook up point which is situated close by and shared between 2 pitches.

 

Water points

Each pitch is fully serviced with its own water point.  All taps offer drinking water.

 

Shower facilities

The site has one centrally heated service block located next to the reception and with a car parking area to the side. The main block contains 6 individual bathrooms containing a shower, toilet and sink. All of our bathrooms are gender neutral.

Lighting throughout the block is regulated by a series of proximity sensors and will automatically turn on and off.

 

Laundry

The laundry room is located within the shower block facility. It contains a front loading coin operated washing machine and a front loading coin operated tumble dryer.

 

Accessible bathrooms

Our touring park washroom facilities are all unisex and has an accessible unisex bathroom.  This shower room is larger in size, all the shower rooms have regulation non slip floors, handles are provided within the accessible room, safety pull cord and a NRS Healthcare adjustable shower chair, all the shower rooms have walk-in shower and toilets.

 

Inclusive Bathrooms

All our bathrooms are inclusive bathrooms which offer more privacy, are quiet and offer the opportunity for a friend or family member who requires support to be accompanied, but does not need to use the accessible bathroom.

Guide dogs

We welcome Guide Dogs and Assistance Dogs on our Touring Park, in our Reception Areas, Shower Blocks. This includes Trainee Guide Dogs to support their training.

Oxygen Cylinders

If you require oxygen or other medical supplies whilst you are staying on our Touring Park or in our Lodges, you must be on site to accept the delivery and arrange collection before departure. Please ensure your booking will accommodate this.

If you have any special requirements with regards to your pitching, please contact our touring park and we will do our best to help.

Pre-arrival

  • We offer telephone, email and postal correspondence and are also more than happy to accept texts.
  • Mobility equipment is available from Rutland Healthcare Support  07936 552464, but needs to be arranged before your arrival.
  • A copy of this access statement is available in large print and via post or email upon request.
  • Our staff are always happy to discuss our facilities and advise you on the best locations to suit your needs, along with informing other departments of your concerns.

Reception

  • The entrance to Reception is via a wide door, the shower facilities and washroom area is level throughout and entirely accessible to wheelchairs.
  • An accessible WC is available
  • Assistance from all staff is always available upon request.

Public Areas

  • The site is generally flat and even.  Our facilities have flat access.
  • All steps throughout are clearly marked and the public areas are well illuminated at night.
  • In all our new signage we have used words and symbols to improve readability.
  • Guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs are accepted in all areas, with water bowls also available.
  • The main roads throughout the central area of the site and public areas are surfaced with tarmac, however some touring areas of the park have uneven gravel roads.
  • The Reception car park is covered with gravel, whilst flat paving stone ramp allows access to the shower facilities.

Shop, Washing Machine / Dryer

  • Access to the reception shop is via a small ramp.
  • The shelves in the shop are stacked from floor level to head height, but assistance is on offer upon request.
  • Nearby parking is available for the reception shop and washing machine area, this parking is on gravel.
  • All washers and dryers are front loading and coin operated assistance is on offer upon request.

Touring Pitches and Facilities

  • Parking is permitted on each touring/camping pitch.
  • Staff are more than happy to advise on the location of pitches and suitability for your requirements on enquiry during booking.

  • Our shower facilities have wide entrance doors and are level throughout
  • There is an access ramp to the toilet and shower facilities
  • The toilet and shower facilities provided are spacious, well lit and open 24 hours a day.
  • On the signage within the shower facilities, we have used words and symbols to improve readability.

Grounds and Gardens

  • The park extends over a large area.
  • The park is serviced by tarmac or gravel roads linking all areas of the main site.
  • We have restricted the traffic speed throughout the site to 5mph to ensure the safety of our guests and staff.
  • The site is well sign posted throughout.

Additional Information

  • There is generally good mobile phone coverage throughout the site, however as with many parts of rural Rutland, this can fluctuate.
  • Free WIFI is provided to guests in the Reception /shower block.
  • A 24 hour emergency phone number is provided upon arrival should you ever need to contact a member of staff in an emergency. This phone number can also receive text messages.
  • Full lists of local care, medical and service providers and rental companies are available in Reception.
  • Phone numbers for taxi firms with wheelchair accessible vehicles are available in Reception.
  • The nearest bus stop is a 15 minute walk from the site. We recommend bringing your own transport.

Additional general information

Mobile telephone reception is variable. EE is very good, all other networks are variable.

Direct terrestrial television reception is good. Satellite reception is excellent.

WiFi is free and available throughout the reception and shower block.

A first‐aid box is kept in the shop/reception.

The nearest defibrillator is located opposite the Jackson Stops pub in Stretton Village.
