Accessibility Guide for Stretton Lakes

Stretton Lakes is situated in 120 acres of farmland in the county of Rutland. Six fishing lakes have been created over the past 40 years to create an idyllic setting surrounded by woodland and open farmland. The lakes support a huge range of flora and fauna, watch carp cruising around islands, mallards flying into roost at dusk and if you’re lucky deer grazing around the lodges.

We are the only luxury lodges in Rutland that have been awarded the prestigious 4 and 5* Gold accolade for each lodge by Visit Britain. Virtual tours of our lodges can be found on each lodge page. Free wifi is available in all lodges.

  • The (bedroom) TVs have subtitles.
General
  • Staff are available 24 hours a day.
  • We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.

Parking
  • We have a car park. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
  • There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point does not have a dropped kerb.

Bedrooms
  • All bedrooms have windows.
  • Bedrooms have ceiling lights, bedside lamps and natural daylight.
  • Lights are LED and traditional filament. TVs have subtitles.
  • All bedrooms are non-smoking.
  • We have non-allergic bedding.
  • All bedrooms have fitted carpets.
  • We can move the bedroom furniture, to improve accessibility.
  • From the main entrance to this area, there is level access.
Accessible bedrooms
  • The route to the bedroom is 900mm wide, or more. The bedroom door is 800mm wide. There is 1500mm at the side of the bed. The bed is 600mm high. There is 200mm under the bed.
  • The bedroom is double. The bathroom is ensuite. The bathroom door is 800mm wide.
  • The bathroom has a separate shower. The bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower. The bathroom has a bath.
  • The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the front only. There is 400mm at the side of the toilet.
  • There is 2000mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 400mm high.
  • The basin is 850mm high. There is no space under the basin.
  • The walls and the bathroom fittings have high colour contrast.
Self Catering Kitchen – 2 bedroom lodge kitchen
  • We have an open plan kitchen.
  • The work surface is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
  • The hob is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
  • The sink is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
  • The oven is available at a height between 650mm and 900mm.
  • The table and plates have high colour contrast.
Lounge – 2 bedroom lodge
  • From the main entrance to the lounge, there is level access. The route is 900mm wide, or more. The door is 800mm wide.

 

Getting around outside

  • From the main entrance to the gardens, there is level access.
  • The route is 2000mm wide, or more.
